Inside the build-up to the Mile World Record.
Project 222 - Josh Kerr - Miles World Record
PROJECT DESCRIPTIONIn early 2026, Josh Kerr called his shot: he would break the mile world record at 3:43.13, held by Hicham El Guerrouj since 1999, untouched for 27 years. The target: 222 seconds. A 3:42 mile.
Brooks brought us in to document the build-up. We joined the team in Seattle and followed the attempt from the inside, the training blocks, the nutrition, the custom-engineered spikes and speed suit, the machinery a brand builds around a single race.
The result is Project 222, a four-part documentary series released ahead of the attempt: not a highlight film, but a look at everything it takes to erase half a second from history.
On July 18, 2026, at the London Diamond League, Kerr crossed the line in 3:42.66 — the first man ever under 3:43.
